Resumen

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar cómo se estudia el activismo climático de infancias y juventudes desde la comunicación. Mediante el método de revisión documental, se exploraron 39 artículos empíricos publicados entre enero de 2020 y febrero de 2024. Los resultados muestran un marcado interés de los académicos por los casos Fridays For Future, Greta Thunberg y los huelguistas de las marchas por el clima. El paradigma de la participación sustenta a la mayoría de los artículos analizados. Destaca la importancia que se le atribuye a las redes sociales y a las tecnologías digitales para empoderar y educar a las nuevas generaciones en la defensa del medio ambiente. Una de las limitaciones de este artículo es la baja representación que ofrece respecto a estudios realizados en América Latina, dados los criterios aplicados en la búsqueda y selección de las piezas. No obstante, con base en la muestra, se ofrece un panorama de la manera en que los académicos abordan el rol de infancias y juventudes en regímenes democráticos de distintos países. Entre los hallazgos, en los artículos analizados se reconoce a los activistas climáticos juveniles e infantiles como agentes de cambio y comunicadores multifacéticos. Se advierte una baja presencia de estudios que promueven una metodología horizontal.
