Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze how climate activism of children and youth is studied from communication. Through the documentary review method, were explored 39 empirical articles published between january 2020 and february 2024. The results show a marked interest among academics in the cases: Fridays For Future, Greta Thunberg and the strikers of the climate marches. The participation paradigm underpins most of the pieces analyzed. It highlights the importance attributed to social networks and digital technologies to empower and educate new generations in defending the environment. One of the limitations of this article is the low representation of studies in Latin America, given the criteria applied in the search and selection of pieces. However, based on the sample, an overview is offered about how academics address the role of children and youth in democratic regimes of different countries. Among the findings, youth and children’s climate activists are recognized in the analyzed pieces as agents of change and multifaceted communicators. It was noted a low presence of studies that promote a horizontal methodology.
