Abstract
The purpose of this study is to track down some of the features from different characters present in the traditional corrido, such as Benjamin Argumedo, Simón Blanco, Heraclio Bernal, etc., in order to find them in another local corrido from Puerta del Río, San Luis Potosí: the Corrido of Camilo Hernández. We found said corrido during our field work in November 2014, in which several residents from Agua del Medio, Villa Juárez and San Nicolás Tolentido told us about this polemic character and how, till this day, he still inspires fear and admiration. This fact is reflected upon the corrido’s construction, whose apparent objective is to establish the immortality of this local “hero” through the application of different resources that exist in traditional corridos since a hundred years ago. Thus, this is proof that the corrido is still in force and this type of characters represent the genealogy of what Aurelio Gonzalez calls the social bandolero.References
